A Long Career Behind the Growth: Pekka Hosio Retires as CEO of Champion Door
Champion Door’s long-serving CEO, Pekka Hosio, retired from the company’s operational leadership at the end of March. He will, however, continue to support the company in an brand ambassador and advisor role. Danilo Benetto, owner of Champion Door and Chairman of the Board, will continue as CEO.

Champion Door’s roots go back to Nivala, where business operations have been built for nearly 40 years. Under Pekka Hosio’s leadership, Champion Door has developed from a small, locally operating company into a global trailblazer whose door solutions are delivered to more than 60 countries for demanding applications such as aircraft hangars, shipyards, mines, and the defense industry.
“At the beginning, everything was very hands-on. We built products, solved problems, and learned along the way. International growth did not happen all at once. It has been a step-by-step process, where every project and every market has taught us something new,” Hosio says.
Champion Door continues its growth as part of the international BMP Group. The ownership structure provides a strong platform for further development and global expansion. One of the company’s key strategic focus areas is North America, where Champion Door is planning a new production facility. The objective is to serve customers closer to their operations and strengthen the company’s position in key markets.
“This work has been a major part of my life for 34 years. With a little sadness, I can say that it has been a privilege to build an organization and see how a company from Nivala has reached the world. At the same time, it is important to recognize that renewal is a natural part of a company’s development. I strongly believe that the Champion Door spirit will remain and continue. I believe that the best years of growth are still ahead. Now is also the right time to make room for something new and to take time for myself, my family, and the everyday things that have received less attention during the working years,”
