Last year, the eagerly-awaited CHAMPIONDOOR Arena opened its doors to visitors in Champion Door’s hometown of Nivala, Finland. The multipurpose center, carrying Champion Door’s name, features a variety of sports and entertainment activities. CHAMPIONDOOR Arena is a valuable addition to the sports and recreational opportunities available in the area.

“We have been very excited to see the project completed and the arena being opened to the public. As a local company, we find it important to support the development and the growth of the area. The new arena offers not only local people, but also organizations and schools a variety of activities that have not been available before. This is something that we are very proud to be involved in”, says Pekka Hosio, CEO of Champion Door.

The arena’s sports activities range from track and field and ball games to activities such as wall climbing, bowling, swimming and pool. The arena also features golf and hunting simulators. The arena’s modifiable gymnasium is acoustically treated and equipped with audiovisual technology, making the space suitable for events and meetings.

Investments in employee satisfaction

The brand-new CHAMPIONDOOR Arena is an important factor in employee satisfaction at Champion Door. The staff utilize the arena’s activities both together and individually. As an active sportsman himself, Hosio finds it particularly important to provide employees versatile sports and recreational opportunities where everyone can choose the most suitable option for their preferences.

“Having hobbies, trying new things and being active is not only beneficial in terms of workplace well-being and satisfaction, but also in terms of team spirit. It is essential to engage in activities beyond work as a work community. Our employees have been extremely happy with the opportunity to utilize the arena and have begun to actively do so.”

Champion Door also invests in employee satisfaction by arranging employee well-being days consisting of outdoor activities and socializing. Champion Door sponsors a local golf course which is at the employees’ disposal, with the Champion Door Open being held every spring. Employees also receive Epassi benefits. Champion Door strives to make combining work and personal life as seamless as possible by offering employees flextime and a hybrid work model. The company’s approach towards occasional alternative work arrangements and, for example, training and education, is flexible and supportive.

“Of course, we also strive to reward our employees and to acknowledge their milestones. Underlying these actions is our commitment to deliver value to our employees.”

Increasing the appeal of the area

The CHAMPIONDOOR Arena has already hosted several large events, such as a national-level volleyball match and several concerts. Champion Door’s hope is that the new arena and its many possibilities will increase the appeal of the area.

“Throughout our company history, we have made efforts to have a positive effect on the well-being and activeness of local people and to consequently increase the area’s appeal. We support numerous local sports and recreational activities and have also supported hundreds of local athletes. This work now continues with the CHAMPIONDOOR Arena. We hope that local residents, organizations and schools feel proud of the new, modern spaces and that the arena serves them to the fullest extent possible.”
